I’m a psychotherapist in private practice in Oakland and Pleasant Hill, California – www.drjosielevine.com . I love to help individual adults and couples move from experiencing suffering, uncertainty, confusion…all the internal states that keep any of us from feeling good about what we’re doing in our lives, feeling accomplished or just good about who we are. I feel a deep sense of honor about being able to enable people to become ‘unstuck’, and achieve increased contentment and peace of mind.
As a long-term meditator and practitioner of vipassana or mindfulness meditation, there came a point for me some years ago when it became increasingly difficult to withhold from my clients elements of this profound methodology that was capable of turning around their suffering, and bringing about a more peaceful existence for them.
Introducing relevant aspects slowly, over the years, and witnessing the results in the lives of my clients convinced me to integrate it more into my work. I now clearly see the effectiveness brought to bear upon all issues that my clients bring to the therapy process.
For me, it is an awesome and humbling process to be involved in, precious intimate and life-altering – the alleviation of others suffering.
I also offer coaching, specializing in internet dating for baby boomers – www.psycoach.com , small business coaching especially for therapists, as well as coaching for doctoral students through the dissertation process. Utilizing tools from both my psychological and spiritual training and experience over the decades, I enjoy sharing the practicalities that can move a process or project forward.
The main difference between therapy and coaching can be summarized by understanding that therapy can seek to alleviate any pathological patterns that create obstacles, whereas coaching tends to not probe as deep, but offer ways to simply get from A to B!
